Are Off-White
X Nike sneakers worth it?
As you know, sneaker culture gained popularity over the past few years,
making small companies like Off-White grow bigger. Thereby , many people thinks that Off-White sneakers are not worth it. For myself I think it can be a
profitable purchase on long term. Their resale price is critically high and their
design is although clean, but mostly exclusive, which makes them so hype to the
community. Otherwise, their resale price as a buyer is a pretty deterrent con. In this argumentative text, I will elaborate my thoughts on these three
main arguments showing you the pros and the con about Off-White’s.
First of all, let's talk about the positivity of the resale price for the seller. If you
were or are lucky enough to buy one of these retail, then congratulation
because most of those worth now from 180% to 1600% more than their retail
price! For example, the Jordan 1 Retro High Off-White Chicago was once in 2017 worth
190$ retail but quickly escalated to an average of 3200$ on the resale market
making it the most profitable Off-White sneaker of all. It’s easy to see that
they have the potential to became long term profitable purchases, and when I say
profitable this is no joke, like you can see in the picture below.
Also, another fact that push the community to buy them is there rarity, hype
and clean/unordinary design. For myself, one year ago, when I didn’t know about
Off-White’s and rare sneakers in general, I found while searching on Goat an incredibly
cool pair of shoes which were the Nike Blazer Mid Off-white. They looked
perfect to me, and I had to say I little too perfect for a price range that I
expect around 200$. As I though, they were 1500$, but I didn’t know why. I
searched on the internet for answers. I found that they were made in exclusive
quantities and made with high end quality materials. Those facts don’t totally
justify the price, but I if you have an high demand on a product but small
quantity, you need to rise the prices.
In the other hand, in the buyer point of view, Off-Whites can seem too
expensive and that’s pretty true. I don’t want to be rude but paying hundreds
or thousands of dollars for a pair of shoes can be a bit silly. With this money
in your wallet, you could buy a student car, buy a computer for your work at
home or even airplane tickets for a trip to Europe. Also, there are plenty of
sneakers that look real similar, without the Off-White trade marks and
deconstructive design, for more than the third of the price.
In conclusion, if you have the competences, the patience and the money
to buy Off-white X Nike sneakers and making them a good investment, then go
ahead. Otherwise don’t waste your time and money on those. After reading this
blog post, do you think that Off-Whites X Nike sneakers are worth it?
